Your Christmas Movie Check List
hey there hi there ho there!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Before you get all huffy, I know. Thanksgiving isn't even here yet! HOWEVER, if I'm going to provide you with useful Christmas content, what good does it do you if I post after Thanksgiving? As a blogger my duty is to give you useful information BEFORE you need it so you are well equipped to have a super fun Christmas season. I have to get in the Christmas Spirit in November so that you can get in the Christmas Spirit after Thanksgiving. I like to plan ahead, so here we are, planning ahead! If this bugs you, move right along. Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday and I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!
To be honest, last Christmas was hard. My baby boy spent most of the Holiday season in the NICU. He came home the week before Christmas, and it was a whirlwind of anxiety and exhaustion, trying to figure out how to be parents to twins while simultaneously being over the moon joyful that my babies were both finally home. During that time I also realized I had PPD, anxiety, and Postpartum rage (it's real, look it up). It was a joyful season, and it was also not. This Christmas I am so excited to have the energy to celebrate, to do the traditions, and make wonderful memories with my family. I won't be posting exclusively Christmas content, but I will be sharing quite a bit!
If you like to start planning for the Holidays before they are actually here, then welcome!
Christmas movies are one of my favorite things about the Christmas season (okay everything about the Christmas season is my favorite!). They hold so much nostalgia and they genuinely make me so happy. I've already started watching the cheesy Hallmark movies (shh, don't tell my husband. At least I watch them while he's at work!). I've compiled a list of the best (lol, or my favorite) Christmas movies so that you can check them off as you watch them this year! I've also included a few fun ways to decide when to watch what movies and involve your whole family!
1 // Pull the Stick
This activity will only cost a dollar! Run to Dollar Tree and grab some popsicle sticks. Pull all the red and green ones and write the title of a Christmas movie. Put them all in a jar, and your family can take turns pulling a stick to see what movie you watch that night!
2 // Advent Calendar Activity
Another fun way to watch Christmas movies this year is to incorporate them into your advent calendar! With your piece of candy you can write down a Christmas movie on a slip of paper and stick it in your calendar! Stay tuned later this month for my DIY Advent Calendar, daily scripture print outs, and daily activities print outs!
3 // On Theme Movie Snacks
Something fun to spice up your Christmas movie watching (especially if you have children) would be to make some themed snacks for your movie!
Here are some ideas:
-Santa on a Stick (bananas, marshmallows, strawberries, red M&M's)
-Home Alone's Mac-n-Cheese and Pizza
-Grinch on a Stick (green grapes, strawberries, mini marshmallows)
4 // Minute to Win It Movie Night Games
A way to make it more than Christmas movie night is to incorporate a minute to win it (on theme or not!) before you watch your Christmas movie! It gets the wiggles out the littles, makes us active, and makes the whole family laugh! Here are some ideas for some Christmas games to play with your family on movie night!
Here is a check list that I created so you can pull some fantastic Christmas movies! These are just a few of my favorite, but I encourage you to get with your family and compile a list of YOUR favorite movies to watch this holiday season!
