TV Show Round Up

Hey there hi there ho there!

Welcome back to Coffee with Kaydee, I’m so glad your here!

I feel like last month was kind of a serious month on the blog? I talked about some heavier topics I feel like, haha. This week I thought we could lighten things up and talk about something FUN!

Last year I started a little series here about the TV shows I’m watching lately, because if I’m being honest, I love TV. There are some talented people out there who create some great shows. I ain’t ashamed to say I enjoy them! I love hearing other peoples recommendations too, so comment below what’s on your TV lately!

Let’s chat about what I’ve been watching lately.

1 // Schitt’s Creek

I know….what? That title is absurd. The show is honestly a little absurd too…but it’s also hilarious and heartwarming. Eugene and Dan Levy wrote and star in it, along with Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy. The premise of the story is an insanely rich family gets duped by their accountant and the government seizes all of their belongings except what they can grab in an hour because they've unfortunately never paid their taxes. Abandoned by any “friends” for help they have to move to a po-dunk town they bought years ago as a joke, Schitt’s Creek. It’s a heartwarming tale about family, growth, and independence. It’s also HILARIOUS. You can watch it on Prime or IMDBTv for free, but it’s uncensored and there are a lot of F-Bombs, fyi. I think it's definitely worth a try even though it's not everyone's cup of tea!

2 // Home economics

This is a newer show on ABC and man I think it is so funny! Topher Grace and Jimmy Tatro are in it and it is the PERFECT combo!

It's about 3 siblings and their dynamic as they live in San Francisco. Two of them are married, one of them is divorced. There is love, laughter, and some family drama. It's honestly really cute and I don't know of anyone who wouldn't enjoy this show! You can watch it for free on ABC.com or on Hulu with a premium subscription.

3 // Mad Men

...late to the game much? Okay okay okay, I've tried to watch this show TWICE in the past, and I could NOT get into it. I was in a tv dry spell recently and had no idea what to watch. I decided to give it a try, and told myself I would complete the first season even if I hated it. Well, it SUCKED ME IN! AGH!

If you don't know, Mad Men is about Don Draper, an Ad Man on Madison Avenue in NYC in the 1960's. There are affairs, drama, civil rigths, women's rights, history, and mysteries. I am on the fourth season now, and I still don't know if I love or hate Don Draper. It makes me SO GRATEFUL for a faithful husband + that I do no live in the 1960's, haha.

If you love intense, dark drama, Mad Men is right up your alley. Have you watched it? It's available on Amazon Prime and IMDBTv.

4 // Call Me Kat

Be forewarned, this show is CHEESE CITY! But sometimes I need a little bit of lighthearted cheese! This is a tale about a single women in her late 30's who quit her job as a teacher to open a Cat Cafe. It's starring Mayim Bialik, AKA Amy Farah Fowler on Big Bang Theory. It's sosooo cheesy but it makes me smile and after watching Mad Men, you need a show that makes you smile!

5 // How I Met Your Father/Mother

Hulu came out with a new original called How I Met Your Father, similar to the classic HIMYM. The jury is still out on this one, but I think I like it? The two key stars I love are Hillary Duff and Josh Peck (Disney/Nickelodeon classic!). If you are a fan of HIMYM and are worried that it's just a copy of the old just from a female perspective, it's not! I haven't even been able to say "Oh that's obviously the Barney character...". The characters and story is unique, but it's told the same as HIMYM. Starting How I Met Your Father made me want to watch How I Met Your Mother again, so I've been doing that too!

That's what I've been watching, I'd love to hear any recs you have, so drop them as a comment below!
