TV Show Round Up!

Hey there, hi there, ho there! Welcome back! Grab a cup of coffee, iced or hot, and let’s chat about TV! I love tv. I said it in a previous post, but watching TV is a hobby for me. There is nothing I love more than digging into a serious drama or laughing along with an old sit com. Being stuck at home for 2020, my husband and I binged a LOT of tv. It was actually great, except that we ran out of shows to watch, lol. Now that I am a stay at home mom, I watch a lot of TV while I nurse my babies, folding laundry, cleaning the kitchen...and I always wish I had someone to chat with about what I am watching! So I decided why not blog it? So here are some of the shows I’ve recently watched and LOVED

1 // Parenthood Alright, give me a drama and I am here for it. Parenthood is about a family of 4 kids, Adam, Crosby, Julia, and Sarah, and their respective families and how they navigate their relationships with each other and balance all of life's struggles. The Patriarch, Zeek, is played by Craig T. Nelson. Now give me some Craig T. Nelson in a drama and I am SOLD. I love the way he talks. It makes you feel good, angry, sad, all at once. It’s kind of like the This is Us before This is Us came out, but not *quite* as good. Ray Romano comes in for the last two seasons and makes it even better. Throughout the show there is something EVERYONE can relate to. If you want to feel good, cry, and be reminded that NO family is perfect, this show is it! I seriously loved watching it from beginning to end. The way the show moves through time is really seamless, it doesn't feel like anyone changes yet all the kids grow up. Such a heart warming show. You can watch it on Hulu!

2 // A Million Little Things Okay, so I tried to watch this show when it first aired and it turned out to be triggering for me. It is dark in the beginning, but brings to light the struggles of depression, mental illness, and suicide. If you have recently struggled with any of those things, I would honestly not watch it if you think it might be triggering. However, the second time around, when I was no longer triggered, I realized the show is so so so good. It soon turns into a wholesome story about a group of people who grieve together and become better people because of the loss of their friend. It is about love and relationship, and about figuring out really hard, real life stuff. It demonstrates how important it is to have people around you to support you, people you can confide in. If you like James Roday (from Psych) you will enjoy this show even more! Honestly, he is the reason I started watching it in the first place. I want to do a full season by season review while I rewatch it (IT'S THAT GOOD!) but for now, just know that this show is so. freaking. good. It has very similar vibes and story telling as This is Us, so if you enjoy that show you will enjoy this one! All seasons and new episodes are on Hulu.

3 // Mad About You

I'm actually still watching this show because I took a break while I watched the dramas I talked about earlier. This is a golden 1990's sitcom about a married couple (Paul and Jamie) and the silly mishaps they get into. It stars Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser. Uhm, Paul Reiser is such a cutie! If you enjoy Friends, you will enjoy this! As a bonus, Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay on Friends) is in this show as well! She plays a waitress at Paul and Jamie's favorite restaurant, Riff's. Fun fact: the waitress is Ursula, Phoebe's twin sister! AH! So much fun! They rebooted it in 2019 for a season and I'm looking forward to watching that too. It's really cute and if you are young married you will relate to all of it! It's on Amazon Prime.

4 // Modern Family

I started watching this a LONG time ago when it first aired on TV, but never watched it all the way through. Josh and I started watching it again, and OH MY GOSH. It is SO FUNNY. It is kind of like the funny version of Parenthood, honestly. It's kind of mocumentary style like The Office and Parks + Rec. It's about the different siblings in a family and the patriarch, Jay and his younger Columbian wife. It's truly so funny and heart warming. In the beginning Jay is gruff and stern, and by the end of the show he is a mushy grandpa and it is so fun to watch him change. There are 11 seasons (they just wrapped last year!) so it's definitely binge-able. They navigated the growth of the young actors beautifully, and you don't even really notice that the they were 11 years old when the show started and now they are all out of high school. I might go back and re-watch it right now actually. You can find it on Hulu and Peacock! Is it just me, or does NBC come out with some of the best shows?!

5 // Resident Alien

Okay I just randomly decided to throw this one in here. We started watching this one last week (on Peacock, I think? There are SO MANY streaming services these days!) and at first I was wary. Aliens are not typically my thing. THIS SHOW THOUGH! It was so funny. It's about an alien who's mission is to come to earth and destroy everyone, but he crashes and takes over the body of this random man. No one knows he is an alien and he has to learn how to walk, talk, laugh like a human. It made us genuinely laugh out loud several times. It's currently running in its first season but there are a lot of episodes, so give it a try!

Of course I have my regulars-This Is Us, The Office, Friends, A Million Little Things, The Resident, and Riverdale that I watch often. I might share more on those other shows eventually. I love talking about TV and I hope you enjoyed reading this post! What are you watching right now that is totally binge-worthy? I'm always looking for new shows to watch! Comment below and share with me!
